Practice Education Team Award

The Practice Education Team Award honours a healthcare team that provides outstanding interprofessional collaborative patient-centred education* in the practice setting for UBC pre-entry to practice level students.

The award is valued at $1,000 and will be presented to a healthcare team in a practice setting.

*Interprofessional collaborative patient-centred education promotes the active participation of each healthcare discipline in patient care and fosters respect for disciplinary contributions made by all professions. It enhances patient- and family-centred goals and values and provides mechanisms for continuous communication and collaborative decision-making among caregivers and their families.

Nomination Process

The UBC Health Practice Education Network (PEN) is composed of UBC faculty, administrators, and staff from across the health disciplines at UBC who support practice education. PEN provides a venue to recognize excellence in practice education and collaborative practice.

Members of PEN and others are invited to nominate a team that provides exemplary interdisciplinary learning to students while on placement. To make a nomination, complete the online nomination form and include nomination letters from one health professional or educator and one UBC health program student who has been positively impacted by the nominated team.

Nomination letters should describe the nominated team’s contributions towards interprofessional collaborative patient-centred education in the practice setting and must include specific examples of how the team meets the eligibility criteria.

Selection Process

The award recipient will be selected by the UBC Health Awards Committee, which is composed of UBC faculty members, students, and public members from the health community.

By accepting the award, the recipient consents to having their names and photos published in UBC Health communications.
